Football and Family time!

Super Bowl 2011 was a success. Green Bay won. My limey (non alcoholic) margaritas were delish. The food was amazing. The weather was perfect. We played, we laughed, we ate! What more can I say... I sure do love my family!

Hiked to the Dixie sign

I think I've had enough green to last me to St. Patrick's day. Bring on the red and pink for this sweet month of LOVE! xoxo - a girl in the city

Individual Excellence

Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. - D&C 18:10

You can be excellent in every way. You can be first class. There is no need for you to be a scrub. Respect yourself. Do not feel sorry for yourself. Do not dwell on unkind things others may say about you. Polish and refine whatever talents the Lord has given you. Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, with a great and strong purpose in your heart. Love life and look for its opportunities, and forever and always be loyal to the Church. - President Gordon B. Hinckley (Stand a little Taller)

Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo - a girl in the city

worry..

I constantly have anxiety. The butterflies never go away. I have nightmares almost every night.
I have lost that home sweet home feeling. I hope that comes back.

I had a few small moments today when my worry disappeared...
There is nothing like the sweet, soft, loving motherly voice of your mom. It never gets old and it never ceases to bring tears when something isn't right. (you know those days you used to call home, sick from school and no matter what when mom answers you start to cry?)... yup thats what I'm talking about.

There is also nothing more comforting than a dads reminder that everything is going to be Ok. Dad's always know best. He is my biggest protector. I know he will keep me safe.

The company of a good friend who I trust and who knows me well is something I will always cherish. He looks out for me and has my best interest at heart. I also have the blessing of having an amazing roommate who reaches out to me and some nights even lets me share her bed:)

Tonight I had much needed conversations with my amazing sister and my closest cousin Bryn. Sometimes you just need the people you love to be there with a listening ear. Each of these people did that for me.

Last but not least I am most grateful for my Father in Heaven who never leaves my side.
I need him and he knows that. He is there for me. He brings me comfort and he hears my prayers.

I never knew I was such worry wort. Drama queen yes, but worry wort??  I guess being a 20 year old ditzy blonde who trusts and generally likes everyone needed a little eye opener. I hope this worry fades... living your life in fear is no fun. Reality is, the world is a scary place no matter where you are, not just in the city of sin. But if you are living your life righteously you will be protected.
I love you all!

Bachelor is BACK!

I don't know what it is about this dumb reality show but i LOVE it.
Who doesn't love a hot guy with shirtless clips running on the beach and working out?
And don't forget about the steamy shower scene....AWKWARD!!
Always a good laugh watching 30 pretty women with generally bad fashion or weird jobs  make a fool of themselves in front of millions.
I even enjoy the cat fights and drama..OH how pathetic us women can be.
Then you have the love or "lusty" moments that kind of make you gag but also a little jealous cause in reality your at home on the couch while that girl scored the hot shirtless guy...hmm
The show wouldn't be complete without the dramatic limo rides and tearful confessionals.
Each season I still get envious of the outrageous dates we all secretly wish we could go on and that helicopter ride that is still a "shocker" every season like its the first...I love it all.
I have a special connection to this season though... so be sure to tune in Jan 30th ;)
My Elvis cast already has me pegged as the next candidate for Bachelor if not the next bachelorette!
HAHA hmm...a Mormon bachelorette could put a real twist on things!

Online shopping!

Life is crazy as 2010 is coming to a close. Technology is so important these days and I don't know what I would do without it. I find myself crossing my fingers in hopes that my Christmas gets here in time. I figured why bother with the holiday lines, annoying drivers and crowds of people when I can shop from the comfort of my own bed. Oh how I LOVE online shopping! Now just hoping the UPS guy is at the top of his game and loves me just as much!

Inspiration

As a performer I am always taking class. Each time, I do my best to take something from it that will improve me as an artist. But once, every so often pure inspiration comes along. A choreographer teaches a class that moves you in a way only dancers can relate. It's a class where I feel complete and invincible. Where I am 100% understood yet totally vulnerable. A moment where dancing feels effortless. My heart is full of passion, my limbs are covered with goosebumps and I am more often then not brought to tears. In that moment I am overwhelmed and overjoyed for the talent that Heavenly Father has blessed me with. Dance is part of me and I can't imagine my life without it. Inspiration like this is why I do what I do. xoxo- a girl in the city

Ps. this song was the perfect cherry on top of my day!
Enjoy.

Reminded

Today I am thankful for people who remind me to be humble.
For people who remind me of what is truly important.
Sometimes I get caught up in the world, especially the glitz of this holiday season.
Today I am feeling humbled and I am grateful.
God sent his Son so we could return to him someday.
I am grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Because of him we get to be with our families for Eternity.
I will always remember the true meaning Christmas.
The Church is true.

Happy Holidays

Feelin good!

I love those moments when everything feels good. Feels happy. Feels right. I know this feeling is rare so that is why Im trying to soak it up. This is not meant to be an "Oooohhh I have the perfect life" post at all. But hey right now, Today, my life is pretty good. I am in such a good place. My life feels full and I am very grateful for that. After 16 months of living in Vegas I finally feel like this is exactly where I am supposed to be. Vegas feels like home. Do I want to stay here forever or have a family here....doubtful. But for me and my life at this age its a perfect place. It tests and pushes me to be better everyday. I have a beautiful place to call home and amazing roommates to fill it. My HOME will always be where my family is but this is not a bad replacement. I love feeling comfortable. I have my favorite local restaurants, a good gym filled with attractive males who make my workout that much more fun. My favorite Target where I always spend too much time and money. My nail salon where they know my name and exactly what I want. My favorite cupcakery for the perfect treat when I feel sad...or happy! The new bank where each time I go I feel a little more awkward cause the teller is extra flirty. My favorite car wash that has the colored yummy smelling soap. My parking spot in the garage. My calling in the ward  to be the annoying girl who walks around a greets you before sacrament meeting. My singles ward in general. All of these things are what make me happy. They make me feel like I belong here. I know each of these things small or big come from my loving Heavenly Father. He has blessed my life greatly and I am so thankful. xoxo - a girl in the city

*GIVE THANKS*
Live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies
and blessings which he doth bestow upon you. - Alma 34:38

How magnificently we are blessed! How thankful we ought to be!
Cultivate the spirit of thanksgiving in our lives. Make it of the very nature of
your lives. It will impart an added dimension to your character that will give
depth and strength. - Gordon B. Hinkley (Stand a little Taller)
