One date...is that too much to ask for?!

Ok ladies...how much do we love him? How much do we want him to win tonight?!?!?! Not to mention that this song has a special place in my heart.
I danced to a very different version at my sisters wedding but this one may be my new favorite. Keeping my fingers crossed for you tonight Phillip Phillips! #myamericanidol

FOMO...YOLO

I found this article the other day in my Women's Health magazine. I loved it so much that I have decided to dedicate an entire post to it. It's something I believe myself along with a lot of people I know have or deal with to SOME degree.

FOMO: the fear of missing out.
CONTRIBUTORS: facebook, instagram,twitter

"Today, I promise myself, will be FOMO-free. No worrying about what others are doing. No stressing about what else I could be doing. No second-guessing the invites I've declined. Me. Today. FOMO-free."
- Women's Health mag

Sometimes social media can bring unwanted negativity. We are always checking  what others are doing and we're so worried about posting what we're doing that we don't actually enjoy "it". We never really sit and be in the NOW. I am 100% guilty of this. Another harmful aspect is feeling left out, not good enough, or even envious of others. Sometimes to the point of resentment. We often feel the need to post something in return to lift our spirits or to remind us that our life is good or fun too in its own way.
In the article it explains how to use FOMO in a more positive way. Maybe others photos or posts can inspire and motivate you. Maybe now you'll try harder to make it to the gym, or spend a night a with your siblings, or plan a fun vacation. We always have the choice of turning our negative thoughts into a positive.

"Your goal is to let FOMO inspire you to live better, not let it ruin your fun."
- Women's Health mag

I was finding myself letting these social media's get me down rather than using them for good. I have taken this month off from Facebook for this reason exactly.
It's been fun focusing more on what I'm doing and really enjoying the moment rather than what my next status should say. haha
(hey you know we ALL do it)
It's seriously been so refreshing..I may just keep it up!
On the flip side I realize how awesome these sites can be to help us stay connected with friends and family. Sometimes my favorite part of the day is checking instagram to see my cutest niece or catch up with old friends. I'm just glad I found this article to use as a reminder in times of envy or negativity to quickly switch my way of thinking. We should always be happy for the success or happiness of those around us. Other peoples money, or dream vacations, or marriage, or beautiful home, or body, or sense of fashion, or adorable child, or healthy home cooked meals, or fun hot date, or girls night, or dream job should only inspire us to live, love and dream BIGGER!
After all YOLO....  (you only live once)

An insta overload!

Never too old for mommy and daddy...

The past two weeks my parents have been a huge support for me. Two weekends ago I completed my first RhinO- course. It was something I decided to do with a few friends in my show. The Rhino consisted of 5 miles and 100 military style obstacles. I trained the best way I could for months before. As my dad and I watched youtube videos the week of...Lets just say I was scared out of my mind. With a smirk on his face he asked, "Are you sure about this..you could seriously get hurt?".. haha. It wasn't until about 2 nights before that I decided I really wanted my parents to be there for a little support. I text my mom that night and sure enough she jumped right in the car. The course was set up in a big circle so they could watch and see every obstacle. After each one I would look out to see their smiling/shocked faces and it kept my tired legs and sore arms moving. I was beyond grateful to have their support that day. It meant more to me than they'll ever know!
How cute are they?!

Then this weekend over our 3 day dark I got my wisdom teeth removed. My friend Tovah was also getting hers taken out and basically we can't do anything without each other lol so naturally I jumped on the band wagon.  I thought I was now a tough girl having completed the rhino and all but I guess not. My mom called the night before saying if it was really bad she'd drive up. I was like no no I'll be fine;). Sure enough as soon as the Dr. woke me up I looked right at my dad and said, "call mom". HAHA Being the amazing nurse/mom that she is she jumped right in the car. There is just something about having your mommy and daddy around that makes everything better. Even as a 21 yr old I'm not ashamed to admit that sometimes I need them. Lately I have realized what a blessing it has been to have them living only a few short hours away. And especially the blessing of having my dad as a temporary roommate. At the drop of a hat they would do anything for me. I am oh so grateful for my parents.
Tweedle dee and tweedle dum headed in for surgery!

I got little to no sleep the night before..
I've never been good with the dentist LOL

After surgery ..haha check out those cheeks..yikes

Nurse GG

And my cute dad who missed work to be my designated driver;)

Seriously my parents are one of a kind. I don't know how I got so lucky.
I am soaking up all I can for one day when it's my turn to repay the favors!

April showers bring May flowers...

You know those moments when you just need a break from the world? Or when you need to find that healthy balance again? Sometimes things like facebook can bring a false sense of reality. I am starting this month of May with a new focus and a hopefully a breath of fresh air. I am removing myself from the social media world to hopefully clear my mind and remember what's most important. Don't get me wrong the media can be a really great thing for many reasons. But sometimes we get soaked up in other people lives so much that we lose who WE are. I'm hoping this cleanse from fb will clear up that cloudy rain and bring on the fresh blooming flowers that life has to offer. Cheers to this beautiful month of May!

Before and After

This post is about to get very personal...it's a good thing I don't have many followers;).
(side note): I fully understand how ridiculous mirror pictures are so please forgive me. I was asked by my trainer at 24 hour fitness to write a success story. I am not exactly sure where to begin so I thought I'd try writing 'my story' here first before it hangs on the gym wall for all to see. Hopefully are a less judge mental audience...I mean most of you were still my friend when I was chubby:)

Growing up as a dancer and performer body image is everything. My weight has varied greatly the past 5 years and has always been my biggest insecurity. I started working for Cirque Du Soleil in 2009. It was an amazing opportunity but came with a large amount of pressure. I didn't have that naturally thin build or athletic body like people would expect from a cirque performer. I was always comparing myself to the bodies around me. Last year I finally decided that I was in control. I was the only one keeping me from looking the way I wanted. For the past 9 months I have worked out with Drew consistently 2 days a week along with coming to the gym at least 3 days on my own. I have definitely developed a passion for fitness. I have never felt more confident or proud of my body than I do now. I wont always have the luxury of a trainer but Drew has instilled a lifestyle change that I hope to keep forever.

July 2011: Before

150 lbs 25% body fat

April 2012: After

143 lbs 20% body fat

ps. I fully plan on taking an after the after photo cause this working out stuff is addicting;)
Cheers to a happy, healthy lifestyle!!
