a sad day..

This is my aunt Jeanette with her son Danny at his graduation. Danny passed away on Sunday night at the young age of 25. Our family has never experienced a death like this. No matter how close or far, big or small, Family is Family and a little piece of ours is gone. This passing has really affected me, not only will I miss Danny but I now know how real Satan is. He will tempt us and nag at us forever once he finds a weakness. I hope I never give him something to nag at. All I can think at this time is to stay close to my Heavenly Father. He will keep us safe. He will bring us comfort. He will guide and protect us. Satan is real. But our Father in Heaven is more real and he LOVES us. I will do everything in my power every single day to stay close to him. My heart aches to be with my family. Being on my own and away from home at times like these make me realize how weak I am without them. Yesterday I kind of fell apart. I was extremely sick and being sick made me more weak. I couldn't stop the tears which didn't help the migraine and all I wanted was a hug from my mom and a fathers blessing. As I drove myself home from work I said a prayer asking my Heavenly Father what I needed to do to calm down and ease my pain. Instantly I knew I needed to ask for a blessing. I text my roommate and she called two awesome young men from our ward. They came over right away and I received the most beautiful blessing. The spirit was so strong. The power of a Priesthood blessing is unlike anything else. I will always be grateful for those two guys for honoring their Priesthood and for dropping what they were doing to come help me. The Church is true, SO true. xoxo- a girl in the city

My dream job

I really do have one of the best jobs out there. Performing every night comes with its up and downs but all around I am pretty lucky. The one part I just can't seem to fall in love with is Vegas. If only If only If only I could do this job somewhere else. Somewhere like LA with beaches and perfect weather and amazing class to choose from and lets not forget about the shopping. I have always wanted to try living there but told myself I would only do it if I had a secure job. I'm not one of those auditioning types, sadly the blonde barbie look alike isn't what Usher or Janet ( you get what I mean) are typically looking for. Anyways at the start of the year Cirque announced the creation of a new show planning to open next summer at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood CA. They have already had auditions are they creating this coming January. Its a 5 month creation in Montreal and 3 year contract in LA. This Dec. is my 1 year mark on my actual contract with Elvis. It is crazy to think I have already been apart of this show for 1 year and 4 months. I decided that next Dec. when this contract ends I am going to do my best to be transferred to the Kodak show. I'd get to skip creation and they would only have 2 years left of their contract. It would seriously be a dream! I still have a year but I sometimes can't sleep at night because I can't stop thinking about it. The show recently announced the name along with a description of the show.

This new production from Cirque du Soleil is a lyrical, fanciful, kinetic foray into the seventh art. Bringing together dance, acrobatics, live video, filmed sequences and animation, the show takes spectators on a fantastic voyage through the history of cinema and its genres, taking them into the heart of the movie-making process. From illustration to animation, black and white to colour, silent films to talkies, fixed shots to swooping camera movements, spectators witness the poetic construction/deconstruction of this art as an object and as a way of transcending reality.
So fun huh?? ...keep your fingers crossed for me and I promise I'll let you come stay and play at the beach! xoxo- a girl in the city

SO in love..

I have this new found obsession with watches. I love them. I wish I could have one in every color. They are my #1 go to item for any outfit. I have this gold watch. I bought it at a local boutique awhile ago. Its beautiful, and has diamonds, and I wear it almost everyday. BUT I get this rash...its itchy and red and hurts. I even switch wrists ignoring the fact that I strongly believe it's super lame to wear a watch on your right hand. But I do it anyways because I love it. I also wear it to dance sometimes but it falls off because the latch is well, CHEAP. Did I mention this watch was $16 dollars?! I guess you get what you pay for. Then I had this BRILLIANT idea of, Why don't I buy a new one? One that is maybe REAL gold and maybe a little more durable for the amount of wearing I plan to do with it. Then I came across THIS beauty.

I know right???? AMAZING
I found it in a magazine and fell in love, I decided it should be my birthday present to myself. I looked it up online tonight and ......................SOLD OUT :(
I can't believe it. I am sure they will get more eventually but if you know me, you know I HATE waiting. Someone once told me that if you dream about it then it's a MUST HAVE item! haha I guess I will have to keep dreaming  for now! xoxo- a girl in the city

San Fran

This past weekend I got to spend some good old QT with my mom. SO FUN! I love when I get either one of my parents to myself. I love learning new things about them and noticing new things that make them happy. My mom and I spent 4 days in San Francisco! We had a blast. Definitely memories I will cherish forever. We did LOTS of walking, shopping, laughing, people watching, biking, some more walking, riding the trolly, eating delicious sour dough bread, and maybe a little more walking:) We stayed in the cutest vintage hotel right in the city. We even had our very own Tower of Terror elevator! haha The City is beautiful and it was a nice change from Vegas. We had perfect weather the whole time. Thanks for the early birthday mom. I love you! Can't wait for more trips to come! xoxo- your girl in the city

July break 2010

I completely forgot to post our Moab trip from my 2 week break in July!

We had so much fun, jeeping, river rafting, hiking, swimming and just being together!
With 3 injured ones (knee surgery, cut open foot, and broken toe) we still managed to hike to the famous Arches! Utah is so beautiful and I am learning to appreciate that more as I get older. Thanks again for the trip mom and dad.- xoxo a girl in the city

The Power of Love

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. -1 John 4:10

There is nothing as energizing, as confidence-building, as sustaining as the power of love. - Gordon B Hinkley

To have the ability to love is a blessing I will always be grateful for. It is so true, I feel unstoppable when I feel loved. I also love to love. Today I love my family. I love the support they show me every single day. I love what a close bond each of us kids have. I love each of my siblings MORE than they will ever know. I love the good and the bad. I love my parents. I love that they do silly things like wear their "G's" backwards and have to have a pair glasses next to them where ever they go. I love seeing my family mature and grow together. I love that I know they will love me NO MATTER WHAT. LOVE is good! xoxo- a girl in the city
